Information: Council Tax Increases and Green Bin Emptying Charges

Labour-run Trafford Council has announced plans to increase everyone’s Council Tax by 7.49%.
The proposal is part of Trafford’s recent budget measures and include making people pay £50 (£45 if you pay online) to have their green bin emptied, a 34% Mayoral Precept increase and an Emergency Service tax rise of 5.6%, which will see hundreds of pounds added to your council tax bill.
Trafford Labour, rather than holding a local referendum on increasing Council Tax for all residents, which they should have done, went directly to the Labour Government and did a backroom deal with Angela Reynor to increase it by 7.49% without consulting anyone.
Trafford Council is now on the brink of bankruptcy and yet they are planning to borrow even more money, which will cause further problems, and most likely an even higher Council Tax bill next year.
Despite their claims that there is no money left, Labour Councillors managed to find enough to give themselves a 40% pay rise worth hundreds of thousands of pounds and you are paying for it.
I, and my colleagues, do not, and will not, support Trafford Labour raising taxes by hundreds of pounds as this will take yet more money out of your pockets.
